About Us

Who We Are

Pool of Life Tours began in 2006 and the company has grown naturally since then. All of our guides are experienced and have deep roots in the city.

Whether you’re exploring Beatles heritage, wandering through the city’s architecture, or discovering its food scene, we focus on clarity, warmth and genuine local insight. Our guides bring their own lived experience of Liverpool — its humour and its history.

What We Do

We design walking and coach tours across Liverpool and the wider North West, from waterfront landmarks and cultural districts to food‑focused afternoons and Beatles deep dives. Every tour is shaped around the people taking it — families, schools, corporate groups, or travellers making a once‑in‑a‑lifetime visit. It’s professional, fully insured, and rooted in real knowledge, but delivered with the friendliness Liverpool is known for.

Tim Hemmings founded Pool of Life Tours over twenty years ago. He loves showing people around the city of Liverpool where he was born and raised. He is a fluent Spanish speaker, ukulele player and a short story writer.

He has always had an avid interest in the Beatles and enjoys spending time with people that share his love for their music. He is a qualified and experienced guide.

Phil was born and brought up in Walton, the same district that Paul and Mike McCartney were born in, has has been doing tours of his city for 20 years now. Phil is a massive fan of the Beatles and the Merseybeat scene of the 1960s when we were the centre of the musical universe, and he knew, and knows, a lot of the guys in the groups.

Phil did his Beatles Knowledge course through Liverpool Council in 2008. He has attended Beatle conventions in America, and loves all the amazing history of "the town where I was born" and is always very proud to show people around and help them understand why he believes Liverpool is the holy city!
